San José Yalu is located about 20 driving minutes after San Rafeal, over a
adventurous dirt road. They have a school and large catholic church, with
'pillas' to wash their clothes in, and sometimes children!
As this is the most remote village of the
three we serve, this is where we find the most sever cases sometimes. It's about
an hour walk to the clinic for the people of Yalu, but still they come. There
are a few witchdoctors in the area, but we don't have too many conflicts with
them.
Yalu is the first to receive donations or shoes,
blankets, school supplies, ect.; since they are poorest of the three villages.
It's a 3 - 4 hour walk to the highway from here, but buses and trucks are
sometimes available.
This is the home of Hannah (Vidalia) 's
parents, the little crippled girl we rescued, read
story here.
