This is a photo-documented construction
progress from 2002.

Jan 16, '02 - foundation almost completed. We had a delay because
there was no water available to make cement.

Jan 17 - we used concrete tubes filled with steel reinforcing
rods for the corners; faster, stronger than poured columns.
Jan 20 - Main entrance in foreground; this will also be the waiting
area.
Jan 27 - Block now up to five
courses, doorways and window spaces now apparent. The sixth course is
block filled with concrete, so after this it will go quickly to the top
- 13 courses of block.
Got Milk? Our clinic neighbor, tied to our
fence, wonders why I'm taking her photo! Maybe she wants to donate some
milk!

Young girls must carry water home at the end
of the day. Here they stop to say hi in front of our medical center.
They are wearing "tipica" dress, an colorful embroidered or woven blouse
called a "guipil".

Men carry heavy bags of cement on their heads when loading our truck!

These three brothers look serious today! Each day local boys hang
around the construction site seemingly fascinated. At 2,100 sf, the
clinic is about ten times larger than the average house - which is
raising the collective village's curiosity.
Feb 22 - Inside; the walls are up! Here
the welder is making the roof frame. Vaulted ceiling on the inside of
clinic will keep rooms cool in hot months.
Feb 22 - Outside look at entrance to
the clinic. High wall is roofline.

Feb 26 Roof trusses up! Roof goes onduring next few weeks!

Feb 26 - Our friends Dr. Mike, and Al & Gail Anderson gave advice
and suggestions.

The village road is busy at day's end as
people return to their homes carry harvested crops or water or, leading
animals home.
